FAFSA and Upcoming College Visits
Important information for both Juniors and Seniors.
October 2, 2017
Seniors, college is rapidly approaching and deadlines are around every corner. It is now October and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now open for the 2018-2019 school year. Staying on top of all your deadlines and remaining organized throughout this whole process is extremely important, as is keeping your options open when applying.
FAFSA is an aid that gives money on a first come first serve basis for college. The 2018-2019 application became available on October 1 and will remain available up until June 30, 2019 (this is when the school year concludes). If you are uncertain on how to fill out the FAFSA form, Kankakee Community College will be hosting a FAFSA completion workshop on Thursday, October 5 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Even if you are unable or do not plan on attending this workshop at KCC, you are more than welcome to stop by whenever for some assistance. Fliers with more information on the workshop are available for you in the Counseling Office.
Numerous college visits are available in the Counseling Office as well. Juniors and Seniors can sign up and speak with representatives from participating colleges on select days at 9:45 a.m. during Boiler Block. Upcoming visits include:
October 3 – Kankakee Community College – SENIORS ONLY
October 4 – University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
October 5 – Millikin
October 6 – Southern Illinois University
October 12 – Lincoln College
October 13 – Illinois Institute of Technology.
October 18 – McKendree University

If students have any questions about financial aid or college visits, please contact your counselor or stop by the Counseling Office for some assistance.
