Soccer
The undefeated soccer team continues to blow away the competition. After their latest victory against Sandburg, they have now outscored their opponents by a combined score of 57-4. The team currently stands at 9-0, and their season is just heating up. Coming up in October is an All-City matchup against Bishop Mac on the first, and three games against Lincoln-Way schools.
Golf
The boys golf team won the All-City title for the fifth straight year on Wednesday at the Kankakee Elks. Senior Tyler Guertin is the individual all-city champ after shooting an 83, while junior Mitchell Hudson finished runner-up with an 84. The girls team has also been successful lately, picking up wins against Beecher and Andrew. Both teams look strong heading into their conference tournaments next week.
Girls tennis
So far this season the girls tennis team has already brought home victories over local rivals Kankakee and Bishop Mac, as well as an impressive win over Lincoln Way Central. They look to defend their All-City championship next Wednesday at home, and their conference tournament takes place on October 8 and 9.
Cross-country
Both the boys and the girls cross country teams brought home All-City championships last Thursday night at Bishop MacNamara. Senior Lenny Baumann won the individual boys title with a time of 12:55, while Junior Mia Martin led the girls team with a time of 15:41. Both sides will look to represent well at the conference meet on Saturday, October 15.
Swimming
The girls swimming and diving team is off to a hot start, highlighted by a first place finish in the Little Village Invitational last Saturday. Their next home meet is Monday, October 3 against Joliet West.
Football
The football team is off to one of the best starts in school history. Coach Kohl’s bunch sits at 4-0 with very impressive wins over Champaign Centennial and Sandburg. Quarterback Morion Burtis exploded for 215 rushing yards and four total touchdowns last week. The team looks set for another playoff run, and they will try to continue their hot start tonight in the Homecoming game against Bolingbrook.
Volleyball
The volleyball team took home a win in straight sets against Bishop Mac in front of a packed Red Surge section last week. They followed that up with a tough, come from behind three-set victory over Stagg on Monday. Another big home game is coming up for the Boilers next week, as they face Lincoln-Way East on Tuesday in the main gym at 6:30.
